PENTHOUSE 405 AT THE ST MORITZ HOTEL
Room at the Top [of a 5 star hotel]
Our client, from Kent, wanted us to design a holiday home for their own use as well as being a high-end holiday rental proposition. The penthouse was at the top of the 5 star St Moritz, and the hotel would also manage rentals on the client’s behalf. All of which obliged our designers to accommodate both the needs of the location (i.e., it should effortlessly mesh with this glamorous location) while also being true to what the client wanted.
Luckily, it wasn’t a stretch to have the penthouse blend with the hotel’s wider design ethos, as Absolute had been lead designers on its original development. We used a colour palette appropriate to the seaside location, but in the subtle hues featured throughout the hotel. Contemporary furniture with an almost sculptural feel helped to fulfil the client’s brief.
The development resulted in a beautiful, spacious three-bedroom apartment with a fabulous dining room for entertaining and a ‘games room’ which doubles as a fourth bedroom, with sofa bed and bi-fold doors. Every detail maximises the amazing views. These details include a playroom rug, which also works externally so can be pulled outside to extend the kids’ play area in good weather, and lovely sculptural rocking chairs, ideal for soaking up the sun and the view.
