The Far East in the South West for busy Londoners
Our client, a busy Londoner, had a passion for Oriental design (derived from a trip to the Far East) and a new penthouse apartment with spectacular views of Newquay’s coastline and sea. His challenge to us? Infuse the luxury apartment with Oriental style to create his ideal escape from the city.
We were very keen both to deliver a design scheme which was faithful to what the client wanted while avoiding the pitfalls of appearing ‘themed’. The way to achieve this was to work closely with the client and to avoid a superficial approach, which is why we spent so long researching Oriental design, and its history, to make sure what we created felt relevant and appropriate, rather than forced. We also deployed a colour palette of blues and greens to help ensure the apartment felt connected to its location.
The final design has been really well received. The client loves his apartment and so do all of his visitors. The project definitely has the Wow factor; it’s had rave reviews on Houzz and won Project of the Year in Cornwall three times.
